GORDON P. WILLIAMS, JR., J.D.
Gordon Williams, Jr. joined The WJF Institute in 2010 as an instructor in the introductory course, Client Development and Relationship Management. Gordon currently is Of Counsel with Wick Phillips LLP, a corporate advisory and litigation law firm in Dallas, Texas. Previously he was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Wayport, Inc. until it was sold to AT&T at the end of 2008. Prior to joining Wayport in 2005, Gordon was with Broadwing (fka IXC Communications) where he served as Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary for six years. Gordon was responsible for all legal and regulatory support for this nationwide communications subsidiary that built and operated a nationwide fiber optic and CLEC network with annual revenues exceeding $1 billion.
From 1988 – 1997, he was with MCI Communications Corporation where he served as Associate Counsel, Law and Public Policy for four years and as Senior Attorney prior to that. At MCI Gordon was responsible for nationwide legal and policy support for all matters involving public and private rights of way, related municipal franchise and state legislative affairs and development of the legal team to handle it all. He also served as Counsel to MCI’s local service subsidiary, MCIMetro.
Gordon served as Co-Chair of the Cable and Telecommunications Subcommittee, State and Local Government Law Section of the American Bar Association (ABA) from 1996-1999. He is a member of the Associate of Corporate Counsel, The Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals, The Turnaround Management Association and Texas General Counsel Forum.
He is a graduate of the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law. He also holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Richmond and is a Combat Engineer Major, USAR (retired).
