Loren A. Wittner joined the WJF Institute in 1996 as an instructor for the introductory course, Client Development and Relationship Management.

Mr. Wittner was the Director of Client Services for Lewis and Roca, a 120-lawyer firm based in Phoenix, Arizona.  He was in charge of the firm's marketing, client relations, community relations, media relations and practice development activities.  Previously, he was the partner in charge of marketing and planning at Chicago-based Winston & Strawn, a 500-lawyer international firm, where he oversaw client relations, public relations and strategic planning.

A 1961 graduate of Harvard Law School, with an undergraduate degree from Columbia University, Mr. Wittner practiced law in New York and Chicago for 17 years, concentrating in litigation, corporate and commercial law.  He then served four years as an Assistant to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce before becoming Vice President of Edelman Public Relations Worldwide, where he was a pioneer in marketing and public relations for law and other professional services firms.  His clients included many of the nation's largest law firms.  He also oversaw numerous public affairs, crisis communications, litigation public relations and issue management programs for major corporations and professional associations.

Mr. Wittner has lectured extensively on law firm marketing and media relations at programs sponsored by The American Lawyer, the Chicago and American Bar Associations, The National Law Journal, the National Law Firm Marketing Association (now Legal Marketing Association) and the National Association of Law Placement.
